LWSD Capital Project Levy on April 2019 Ballot
LWSD has announced it will put a Capital Project Levy on the April ballot . From the announcement:  "Levy funds would pay for critical projects to address rapid enrollment growth and student safety and security. Proposed projects include: classroom additions at Lake Washington High School, including auxiliary gyms and commons; classroom additions at Carson Elementary, Franklin Elementary, Rose Hill Elementary, and Twain Elementary, including expansion of core facilities where feasible; and support student safety by adding exterior security cameras at elementary schools and create entry modifications for security at Eastlake, Redmond and Lake Washington High Schools. Who doesn't love to receive a gorgeous gift basket? There are plenty to bid on at this event! On  Thursday, December 6 from 10-11 am , the Lake Washington PTSA Council will be auctioning off gift baskets at the LWSD Resource Center in Redmond. Auction baskets are currently on display in the Resource Center, and you can bid now - all of the proceeds go to scholarships. Eastlake PTSA Awards Nearly $29,000 in Grant Money to EHS
The Eastlake High School PTSA is pleased to award $28,966.00 in grant money to support several projects around our school. New non-fiction and multi-lingual library books, equipment for physics and biology classes, new lighting for the theater, and a new baritone saxophone are some of the items that will be purchased. Grant funds will pay for two programs to support student learning. A program called “Think Again” teaches freshmen and sophomores about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving, and the "American History Museum: Unspoken Truths" traveling exhibit helps juniors learn more about slavery, the Civil War, and African American ... read full article

King County ballots were mailed a while ago and ballot drop boxes are already open since October 18 th . Do your homework and learn about the candidates and initiatives! The Voter Guide that was mailed has great information about all of them. Visit  https://www.kingcounty. gov/depts/elections.aspx  for more information about initiatives and candidates, as well as information about drop box locations, and after the elections – track the status of your ballot until it is counted, and see election results. Lake Washington PTSA Council is inviting new and international families to attend a welcome event at one of the two times above (events are identical, only need to attend one). Events are held at the  Lake Washington Resource Center . Send Off is a few months away, but you can sign up anytime from now until May 1 . If you have made already signed up and paid, make sure you have completed all the paperwork (including any specific paperwork for life threatening illnesses). The paperwork can be returned to the main office. If you have turned in paperwork, but not paid yet, please make a payment by check or online payment. All checks can be brought to the main office. The Eastlake Angels program serves high school students who need school supplies, clothes, school tickets, and their families if they need groceries or a little extra help to make ends meet. It is a confidential, behind-the-scenes PTSA program made possible by donations from parents and the greater Sammamish community. Please bring donations of clothing, shoes or backpacks to Curriculum Night on 9/26 -  Eastlake Angels will have a table there. Laptop roll-out for Eastlake students will occur in late August on the same day as grade-level orientation.  Mark your calendar and have your student stop by anytime during their session to get their laptop before school starts. 9th Grade: Monday, August 27; 8am - 1pm 10th Grade: Tuesday, August 28; 8am - 1pm  11th Grade: Wednesday, August 29; 8am - 1pm 12th Grade: Thursday, August 30; 8am - 1pm   Freshmen and new students (only) must bring a  laptop agreement form  signed by a parent.  (Returning Eastlake students already have a form on file that is valid until graduation; therefore, returning students do NOT need to bring this form.)     ... read full article
